Terms of Use

1. What EmoCity is

EmoCity reads facial signals from your camera and turns them into estimates of stress, mood, composure, eye contact and a heart-rate estimate. It is a tool for self-insight and entertainment. It is not a medical device, not a diagnostic tool and not a lie detector, and its readings must not be used to make decisions about anyone's health, employment, credit, insurance or legal status.

2. Your account

The scan works without an account. An account is optional and stores your own summary scores so that history, trends and reports work across sessions. You can delete your account and its data at any time from Settings.

3. Plans and subscriptions

The free plan includes a limited number of scans per month. Paid plans (Starter, Basic, Pro) are monthly auto-renewable subscriptions that raise the monthly scan allowance and, on Basic and Pro, add PDF reports. The plan names, allowances and prices are shown on the Pricing page before you buy.

On the web, plans are billed through Stripe and can be cancelled at any time from Settings; the plan stays active until the end of the paid period.

In the iOS app, plans are bought as auto-renewable subscriptions through your Apple ID. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the period at the price shown. You can manage or cancel the subscription in your Apple ID account settings (Settings, your name, Subscriptions) at any time after purchase. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under its terms.

A plan bought on one platform applies to your account wherever you sign in. If you subscribe through Apple, manage it through Apple; if you subscribe on the web, manage it on the web.

4. Consent and other people

Scan only yourself or people who know the scan is running and have agreed to it. Upload only photos and clips you have the right to use. Do not use EmoCity to screen, judge or make decisions about another person.

5. Privacy

The browser scan runs on your device; video and audio are not uploaded. What leaves the device is described in the Privacy Policy: anonymous usage events and, for signed-in users, their own summary scores.

6. Acceptable use and licence

EmoCity is licensed, not sold. You may use it for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, reverse engineer, resell or use it to train models. The software is protected by copyright, with patents pending. Full licence terms: emopulse.app/license.

7. No warranty, limited liability

EmoCity is provided as is. Readings are estimates and can be wrong, especially in poor light, at an angle or with movement. To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the fees you paid for the plan in the month the claim arises.
